[Rumeur] après Belle... Symbian Carla et Donna

Symbian: Belle, Puis Carla et Donna!

 

C’est le site Symbianlatino qui vient de nous faire part de cette image.

 

C’est au «Nokia Developer Day» a Mexico que cette image a été prise. En plus de préciser que Belle sera bien disponible en premier lieu pour les X7, E6 et 500, elle nous informe qu’elle ne sera dispo pour les N8, C7 et E7 que début 2012, ce qui va a l’encontre de la rumeur de ce matin.

 

Passons les mauvaises nouvelles, et voyons les bonnes nouvelles, par mise a jour:

 

Symbian Belle:

 

Disponible fin 2011 pour X7, E6, 500.

Disponible début 2012 pour N8, C7, E7 et C6-01

Nouvelle interface, nouveaux widgets, barre de notifications, bref vous connaissez.

 

Symbian Carla:

 

Disponible fin 2012/début 2013 pour (apparemment) les Nokia au moins 1GHz

Un navigateur internet en 8.0 (donc grosse amélioration a prévoir)

Son Dolby Surround

NFC (compatibilité totale)

Widgets nouveaux et améliorés

 

Symbian Donna:

 

Disponible seulement pour les Nokia «doubles coeurs» ???

Nouveaux mobiles dual core, image trop floue pour les discerner.. meme si le dernier ressemble a ce concept de Nokia Windows phone:

 

Que faut il retenir de tout ça? Que votre votre N8, C7, E7, E6, X7, C6-01, seront d’actualités jusqu’à fin 2012/début 2013, ce qui leur laisse encore du bon temps. Que Carla sera une mise a jour de Belle seulement sur les 500, 603, 700, 701 et nouveaux?

 

Et que Donna apportera des Nokia sous symbian ultras puissants, avec un processeur Dual Core.

Perso si Donna ressemble réellement à ce visuel... je pense que symbian va me revoir

parce que j'ai du mal avec l'esthétisme de Belle même si je trouve l'évolution au top ! Les graphismes utilisés pour les icônes et widgets des écrans d'accueil ne me plaisent pas dutout on dirait que ce sont des enfants de maternelle qui les ont dessinés !

Symbian devrait s'inspirer de l'esthétisme de MeeGo (Harmattan) pour ses futures MàJ Carla et Donna...

 

Back in July we saw some UI guidelines in Symbian that suggested a more unified look with MeeGo-Harmattan on the N9. You might have seen these before, most are familiar but there are some that seem to be new to me (could just be some temporary amnesia from last night’s party though :S). These indicate how much nicer Symbian apps are going to be but also Symbian itself as a whole.

 

Looking at the recently updated UI guidelines (From November 24th) you can see a lot of changes made again that makes it even more beautiful and more in line with MeeGo-Harmattan. See below the lists. You can imagine that to be a look for contacts.

The buttons becoming more squircly.

 

I especially like the nice touch of squircle switches.

 

The notification dialogues looking nicer than the blocky kinda plain rectangle that looks out of place right now in Belle. It’s somewhat too inconsistent whether certain things will have soft or hard edges. They look so much nicer than the overly fat and old looking buttons.

 

Not sure if this is possible in Belle already (I wish I had a Belle handset :S) but it sure is on the N9. Just drag and bring up letters on the side for quick list jumping.

 

This one not new, but I’m still liking quick tabs to switch. It’s an alternative mode to panning and much better than digging through menu layers.

 

Tumblers…been liking this type of number/date selection since N900.

 

It’s so much more consistent. Fantastic work on Symbian. Shame it wasn’t able to appear sooner. On the upside, new Symbian handsets next year are going to be even more awesome. Now the last thing left we might we wanting is a taste of Swipe, no? That might heavily change things up, especially if Nokia put some similar high class design there.

BTW as a reference here’s Belle on the Nokia 701. Relative to the old Symbian^3 Belle is stunning. But now compared to the new Symbian design guidelines that we might see in Carla/Donna, it’s looking a little dated already – but that’s a good thing as the new Symbian is looking even better than ever before. Now it’s just the case of waiting again, right?
