The upcoming iPhone 6 rival, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha, has been leaking from every crack of the Internet – hands-on photos, pre-order price, you name it. Now the Samsung site hosts the User Agent profiles of no less than five versions of the Alpha.

 

 

 

The base model number is Samsung SM-G850 with a letter identifying carrier and regional versions. The profiles confirm 720p resolution for the screen but surprisingly they differ in CPU clockspeed.

 

The G850A is listed with a 2.3GHz CPU, while most others are at 2.5GHz, except for the G850T, which lacks the max frequency field in the profile.

 

Here's a breakdown of what each letter means:

The G850H is a bit unclear - the G900H is the Exynos 5 Octa version of the Galaxy S5 and is a 3G-only phone, so presumably the G850H is a 3G-only Galaxy Alpha.

 

Anyway, the Alpha is reportedly powered by an Exynos 5433 chipset. Details on that chipset are scarce but it will be the first clocked as high as 2.3GHz and 2.5GHz, normally that's Snapdragon territory with Exynos topping out at 1.9GHz.

 

The official unveiling should take place on August 13 if rumors are to be believed.

Le lancement du Samsung Galaxy Alpha n'est définitivement plus très loin. Le smartphone a été aperçu en Russie, lors d'une présentation privée, mais aussi au Brésil avec sa fiche technique.

 

 

Alors que l'annonce officielle du Samsung Galaxy Alpha serait programmée le 13 août prochain, soit dans très exactement deux jours, il semblerait qu'une présentation confidentielle ait récemment eu lieu en Russie. Des photos, diffusées sur Hi-Tech@Mail puis retirées, montrent le nom du smartphone flottant dans les airs devant un port. Il était également inscrit sur des banderoles installées le long du quai.

Un design déjà bien familier

 

Nous pouvons même y voir le Galaxy Alpha entre les mains d'un participant invité à poser pour l'occasion. Le smartphone, bien que difficile à observer, ressemble à celui que nous avons pu découvrir à travers plusieurs clichés la semaine dernière, avec ses angles presque droits et, surtout, son cadre en aluminium.

Une deuxième fuite en provenance du Brésil

 

Dans le même temps, au Brésil, la photo d'une affiche présentant le smartphone et ses principales caractéristiques techniques a été relayé par TecMundo. Elle confirme la plupart des rumeurs de ces dernières semaines : écran HD de 4,7 pouces, APN 12 mégapixels, webcam 2,1 mégapixels, processeur Exynos 5 Octa, 2 Go de RAM, 32 Go de mémoire interne (+ microSD), batterie 1860 mAh, lecteur d'empreinte, cardiofréquencemètre...

Nearing its possible August 13 unveiling the Samsung Galaxy Alpha has leaked in a new series of photos. There's new information along with the photos that the device will make an appearance earlier than expected on the IFA fair in Berlin and make it to the Netherlands in late September.

 

The device will feature a metal frame, glass front and a plastic back panel that sources claim is identical of that of the Galaxy S5.

 

Looking at the image with the AnTuTu 4 score the Samsung Galaxy Alpha is expected to pack quite a punch - besting the Galaxy S5 and HTC One (M8).

Sources in the Netherlands point that the Galaxy Alpha will be priced between €500 and €550. Retailer Mobilefun even claims that the phone will tip the scales at a hefty €700 in the UK but that seems very unlikely.

 

The next leak shows what appears to be an ejectable, metal nano SIM card slot, making the Galaxy Alpha the first Samsung device to support the standard.

The leaks suggest that the Samsung Galaxy Alpha will sport an octa-core Exynos 5 Octa chipset, 2GB of RAM hexa-core Mali-T628 GPU, and a processor that can clock up to 1.8 GHz. This information clashes with the rumors we've seen quoting the Galaxy Alpha to use an Exynos 5433. The rest of the specs match previous rumors - a 4.7" 720p display, 12MP snapper on the back, 2.1MP one on the front, LTE, Android 4.4 KitKat and a 1,850mAh battery.

 

At least the phone's exterior looks to match across the different leaks. We've shown you images of the device before and it looks to have metal on its frame-only and otherwise retain the faux-leather back and front design of recent Samsung flagships.

There will be no shared spotlight at IFA then, Samsung unveiled the premium Samsung Galaxy Alpha weeks before the scheduled Galaxy Note 4 announcement.

The premium device has a metal frame exposed on the sides and a faux leather back similar to the Galaxy S5. The Galaxy Alpha is a preemptive strike against a bigger iPhone, it measures just 6.7mm thick and weighs 115g. It's other dimensions are 132.4 x 65.5, comparable to those of the Galaxy S5 mini.



The Alpha flagship packs a larger screen, however, a 4.7" Super AMOLED with 720p resolution. The phone's heart is an Exynos 5 Octa built up of four Cortex-A15 cores (1.8GHz) and four Cortex-A7 cores (1.3GHz). There's 2GB of RAM and 32GB of non-expandable storage.

It will run Android 4.4.4 KitKat with TouchWiz on top including S Health and Ultra-low power mode. The phone will pack a fingerprint reader, heart-rate sensor and will be compatible with the Samsung Gear smartwatches.

The main camera is a 12MP shooter (it's not clear yet if it's ISOCELL or not) accompanied by a 2.1MP selfie camera.

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha boasts LTE Cat. 6 connectivity, dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 . All of that will be powered by a relatively small 1,860mAh battery. Color options include White, Silver, Gold and Blue.

The phone will launch in 150 countries in September. Info from Russia points to a September 12 launch at RUB 25,000 ($690 / €515) price tag. Keep in mind phone prices in Russia are typically higher than in most of the world.

C'est assez bizarre : le contour métallique me fait penser à un croisement entre les côtés de l'iPhone 5/5S et la coque Vapor Pro que j'avais sur mon ex iPhone 4S au niveau des décrochages des angles.
